Finding Talent in Tatts’ Book One

There was certainly no shortage of quality yearlings on offer at the latest edition of the Tattersalls’ October Book One Yearling Sale.  We were delighted to purchase eight yearlings for clients.

Lot 33 – a good-looking colt by AUSTRALIA, from the family of Champions MAGICAL and RHODODENDRON and G1 winners HALFWAY TO HEAVEN, PHOTO CALL, CROSS COUNTER, etc.  His dam is a half-sister to three Black-type winners.  He was purchased for 105,000 gns from Barouche Sud with Australian connections Bjorn Baker Racing and bloodstock agent James Clarke.

Lot 118 – A colt by the talented sire STARSPANGLEDBANNER, this lovely individual is a half-brother to G2wG1p FEV ROVER, from the Juddmonte family of G1 winners LIGHT JIG, SEEK AGAIN, etc.  He was purchased for 90,000 gns from Manister House Stud on behalf of Global Group Racing.

Lot 240 – an exceptional colt by AUSTRALIA, this colt has a fantastic hip and shoulder and is an athlete through-and-through.  A half-brother to G3wG2p YOUTH SPIRIT and from the family of Champion LIT DE JUSTICE.  He was purchased for 350,000 gns from Glenvale Stud on behalf of Bon Ho.

Lot 285 – a precocious-looking individual by proven sire EXCEED AND EXCEL out of G3-placed Spanish Fly.  His half-brother, a two-year-old by Oasis Dream named Last Crusader recently finished runner-up in the Listed Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy.  He was purchased from TPB Bloodstock for 50,000 gns on behalf of exciting young trainer James Ferguson.

Lot 375 – Gorgeous filly with an incredible page to match her good looks.  By CAMELOT, her dam is a half-sister to Champion, Derby winner AUTHORIZED (by Montjeu) from the family of G1 winners SOLEMIA, THE GURKHA, SILASOL, OKAWANGO, QUIJANO, etc.  She was purchased from Clare Castle Stud for 50,000 gns.

Lot 440 – Athletic colt by NO NAY NEVER from the family of G1 winners JOHANNES VERMEER, SHIRLEY HEEIGHTS, DIVINE PROPORTIONS, WHIPPER, PENTIRE, etc.  He was purchased for 100,000 gns from Camas Park Stud on behalf of Global Group Racing.

Lot 460 – a solid colt by super-sire LOPE DE VEGA out of G3 winner COTTONMOUTH (dam of seven winners from seven runners including Champion, G1 winner DYLAN MOUTH, LwG2p HENRY MOUTH and Lw PER UN DIXIR).  He was purchased for 125,000 gns from Ballylinch Stud and will head to Classic-winning trainer Hugo Palmer.

Lot 484 – Stunning colt by CAMELOT from a beautiful Juddmonte family.  His dam is an own sister to G3p Alpha Bravo and a half-sister to G1 winner JULIET FOXTROT, from the family of Champion DANCING BRAVE and G1 winner JOLYPHA.  He was purchased for 200,000 gns from Oneliner Stables for client Bon Ho.

A year of champions and G1 successes
