Grade 1 star Anisette sells for $1.8 million
Anisette sold for $1.8 million at Keeneland on Tuesday to close a chapter that took in three Grade 1 victories and close to a million dollars in earnings.
Anisette was a private purchase on behalf of Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners out of Kevin Philippart de Foy’s yard in late 2022 in conjunction with Aron Wellman.
Sent to Leonard Powell, the daughter of Awtaad proceeded to rattle off victories in the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks, Grade 1 American Oaks and Grade 2 San Clemente Stakes at three and returned this year to take the Grade 1 Gamely Stakes and Grade 2 Yellow Ribbon Handicap.
This star of the Californian turf circuit was offered at Keeneland as part of the Bluewater Sales consignment and was sold for $1.8 million to Willingham Stud.
She was bred by the Morera Partnership, in whose colours she won at Wolverhampton, and is out of Tutti Frutti, a Teofilo half-sister to the Group 1 Nassau Stakes winner Soft Centre.
