Medallion and Parkland team up in exciting 2yo Celeron
Medallion Racing Partners and Steve Weston’s Parkland Thoroughbreds have purchased a 50% interest in exciting two-year-old Celeron in a deal brokered by Avenue Bloodstock’s Mark McStay.
Trained by Michael O’Callaghan, Celeron has won two of his three starts to date in the colours of the New Morning Syndicate capped by the G2 Railway Stakes at the Curragh on his most recent start by three lengths.
The son of Mohaather holds Group 1 entries in both the Phoenix Stakes and National Stakes, with McStay describing the colt as “a horse with a bright future”.
“Both Steve Weston and Medallion’s Phillip Shelton were very keen to get involved in the horse,” said Mark McStay. “Michael O’Callaghan is a top-class trainer with an excellent team and state-of-the-art training facility. We feel we’re in very safe hands with an exciting horse.”
The four-time Group 1 winner Porta Fortuna is among the star names to have represented Medallion Racing on European soil, with the operation’s racing manager, Phillip Shelton, expressing his delight at having added Celeron to the team.
“We were extremely impressed by Celeron, both on debut and last-time-out at the Curragh,” said Shelton. “He’s a top-class prospect. We are grateful to Michael and his owners for allowing us to partner with them. Both Medallion and Parkland look to get involved in high-end racing prospects – this horse definitely ticks all of those boxes.”
