Pedro Cara, a private purchase by Michael Levy and Avenue Bloodstock, showed an impressive turn of foot to land the G2 Qatar Derby today at Al Rayyan Park in Doha.

Held up towards the rear of the field, he started to make headway on the outside at the halfway mark, he was pushed on from under two furlong out, he stayed on well to take the lead 50 yards out and win by one-and-a-quarter lengths.

By G1-winning juvenile Pedro The Great, Pedro Cara had won a Listed event in Vichy and finished second in the Jockey Club Derby Invitational Stakes at Belmont prior to his private sale.

Congratulations to all connections including new owner, owner HH Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Thani, trainer Mauricio Delcher Sanchez and jockey Tony Piccone.
