The quality of yearlings on offer at this year’s Tattersalls’ Book One has been a highlight in a rather tumultuous year.  With the average and median both down 13% there was a rare opportunity to pick up some incredibly special yearlings, that in other years might have been unattainable.

Lot 178, an outstanding colt by the legendary Galileo out of the G3-placed winner Ghurra.  This colt is a half-brother to Champion two-year-old, SHALAA.  He is from the family of G1 winners HAYIL and WILD RUSH.  He was purchased for 550,000 guineas.

Lot 241, an attractive filly by Iffraaj out of Listed winner KATAWI.  She is from the family of Champions MILL REEF and FIELDS OF SPRING.  She will head into training with trainer Chris Dwyer and was purchased for 52,000 guineas.

Lot 327, a speedy-looking colt from the first crop of G1 winner Caravaggio.  From the family of G1 winners ZAMBEZI SUN, DONTINENT, TEMIDA, MIDSHIPS, etc.  He is out of the G2wG1p MUCH FASTER and is a half-brother to LwG3p SUGAR FREE.  He will also head into training with Chris Dwyer, he was purchased for 50,000 guineas.

Lot 454, another gorgeous son of Galileo.  This colt is a first foal out of the talented G3wG1p SPECTRE.  He is from the family of Champion ITO and G1 winner IN SWOOP.  He was purchased for 450,000 guineas.

Last, but certainly not least, Lot 490, an athletic colt by Galileo out of the LwG2p THAI KAHU.  He is a full-brother to LwG3p SARROCCHI and from the family of Champion HERNANDO and G1 winners JOHANN QUATZ, WELL TIMED, AKEED MOFEED, etc.  He was purchased for 450,000 guineas.
